Last month, we informed you that the COVID-19 related U.S. travel restrictions would be lifted sometime in November and would be replaced with a requirement of full vaccination before entry to the U.S. and a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours entry, but the effective date for that change had not been announced.
This week, the U.S. Department of State announced that this change will take effect on November 8, 2021.
This new travel policy requires foreign nationals traveling to the U.S. to demonstrate proof of full vaccination against COVID-19. The vaccines that will be acceptable to meet this requirement include FDA-approved vaccines, FDA-authorized vaccines, and World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Use Listing vaccines.
The CDC and other related agencies are working to develop the orders and guidance documents to implement this new travel policy. Those details—which will be vital for the airlines and individuals attempting to enter the U.S.—should be available well in advance of November 8.
