Happy New Year from Tidwell, Swaim & Farquhar!

Happy New Year! As we begin to move past the historically bad year that was 2020, we can look forward with optimism that this new year will bring a return to normality, and positive changes and progress.

The legal and political environment of U.S. immigration law is ever-changing. However, over the past four years, the system has been subject to a whirlwind of sweeping changes in law, in enforcement, and in policy. This month, the executive administration of President Joseph Biden will begin. With it, we can expect the environment to continue changing, and quickly. President-Elect Biden has pledged that, within the first 100 days of his administration, he will reverse many of the immigration-related policies and enforcement priorities set by President Donald Trump’s administration. President-Elect Biden’s administration will also implement its own policies and will likely push for legislative changes with the help of a receptive Congress. The specific details of any such changes remain to be seen, but it is safe to say that change is coming.

In 2021, we at Tidwell, Swaim & Farquhar, P.C. will continue to monitor and track immigration laws and policies as they evolve, and we will continue to work diligently to efficiently and effectively serve the individual needs of our clients in navigating all aspects of immigration law.
