Having practiced immigration law since 1986, I have seen many very successful people and some very disappointed people, all clients. Fortunately, well over 90% of our clients have seen success in their immigration processing. But why is that?
There are a number of things that successful clients look into, learn about, and discuss with their attorney. An educated client is much more likely to be successful.
Here are some issues to think about when making decisions on your immigration case:
- In almost all cases you will need an attorney. In Texas, Florida, and California that task is made easier since attorneys who become experts can be recognized as “Board Certifiedâ€. But even some Board Certified attorneys do not practice in every immigration area.
- Talk to your friends and family about the attorney you are interested in. This is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life, so get the best information you can. The internet can be of some help, but it also can be extremely misleading.
- The immigration process can be very slow and frustrating. Think about this while you are waiting on the government to issue a decision or go to the next step. Often your attorney has no option other than to wait with you. Emailing and calling your attorney or his/her staff repeatedly will only add more work to your attorney and their law firm.
